From materials\, to production\, to product testing. \nSpeaker Bio\nRich Brewster is Director of Quality Control for Northern Concrete Pipe\, based in Bay City\, Michigan. He’s been with Northern for seventeen years\, and involved in the quality program for fourteen. Rich is responsible for developing and overseeing Northern’s award winning quality control program\, maintaining various plant and company certifications\, ensuring product compliance to local\, state and national specifications\, personnel training\, and overseeing research projects. Rich holds a degree in Science and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Rich is a current member of ACPA’s Quality\, Education\, and Research Committees.

(ACPA) \nPresentation Description\nThe ACPA Infrastructure Committee’s (IC) primary focus is improving the position of concrete pipe with specifying agencies around the country. \nThis course will walk attendees through the inner workings of the IC and help to answer the all-important question: “What can the IC do for me\, and how do I get involved?” The goals of this course will be: \n\nReview the history of the IC\nEvaluate the goal and mission of the IC\nExplore the different functions of the IC\nDiscover major accomplishments of the IC over recent years\nUnderstand how to get involved in the IC\nOpen Panel Discussion with IC leadership team\n\nSpeaker Bios\nRiley is currently the vice-chair of the ACPA Infrastructure Committee. He works as the technical resource engineer for Forterra in Minnesota. He was originally hired with Cretex and has remained with the same company (now Forterra/Rinker) since he began full-time employment in 2014. He is a graduate of Minnesota State University Mankato and a licensed professional engineer in the state of Minnesota. Riley and his wife\, Jamee\, reside in Prior Lake Minnesota with their two kids of 1 and 2 yrs. old! \nRick is a past chairman of the board for ACPA\, current chairman of the Infrastructure Committee of ACPA and serves as Vice President Technical Services for Rinker Materials. Rick has been with Rinker since 1989 serving in Cement\, Aggregates and Ready Mix Divisions in Florida prior to joining the Rinker Pipe Division in Houston in 1996. Prior to Rinker\, Rick worked for Master Builders Technologies and Jackson Ready Mix in Dallas\, TX. Away from Rinker\, Rick enjoys his wonderful wife of 42 years\, 4 children and 5 grandchildren. \nKim is Vice President of the ACPA for Strategy and Operations representing one of the largest National/International Associations that support the Nation’s Transportation and Infrastructure needs. As Vice President\, she is an accomplished leader at the American Concrete Pipe Association as the spokesperson for the concrete pipe industry in all matters affecting the industry’s welfare.  ACPA represents over 400 Manufacturing Plants in the USA and Canada\, and represents over 125 Members both Nationally and Internationally.  She excels in strategic planning with expert skills in cultivating operational and team excellence.  Spahn drives success in 7 Strategic ACPA Committees (Quality\, Safety\, Education\, Marketing\, Government Relations/Lobbyist\, Infrastructure\, and Research) that are the Foundation of the Associations success\, mission\, and vision.  Spahn works alongside of the Board of Directors to develop teams and execute national and local strategies for growing market share of concrete pipe. \nSpahn also serves as the President of the ACPA Research and Education Foundation. The Foundation develops and funds research that supports the goals of the ACPA. Spahn is responsible for managing the Foundation’s budget including fundraising and management of research contracts.  The Foundation also provides educational grants to individuals to attend seminars and schools that foster knowledge of all types of pipe under her management.

This course will explore the past cases\, hypothetical concepts\, and the current canons of Ethics from two different engineering societies. The course is broken down into four easily consumed sections: 1. History 2. Canons 3. Current Events 4. Application. Attendees should expect to achieve the following learning objectives at the end of the course: \n\nUnderstand the differences between micro and macro ethics concepts\nLearn the history of professional ethics in the engineering field\, and exploring when the Health\, Safety\, and Wellbeing of the public became paramount\nHow to incorporate ethics into daily life\, so that the big issues aren’t so daunting.\n\nSpeaker Bio\nTrygve W. Hoff\, PE\, is the Northeast Region Engineer for the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA). Tryg graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and his professional experience ranges from environmental consulting in Columbus\, Ohio\, to architectural engineering in beautiful Lake Tahoe\, California. Tryg lives in Madison\, Virginia\, near the Blue Ridge mountains with his wife\, Brooks\, on a small 40‐acre horse farm. Tryg has been promoting resilient infrastructure with the ACPA since 2012.
