DESCRIPTION:Location:  Grand Ballroom B \nSpeakers:  Larry Mauck\, P.E.\, – Pretech Corp \nPresentation Description \n\nThis presentation will take a practical look at specifications for reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) joints\, primarily focused on storm water applications.  We will take 30\,000-foot view of RCP joint specifications and how they should be utilized for specific projects.  Additionally\, we will review a sample specification\, pointing out specific areas impacting the type of RCP joint for the project.  Finally\, we will identify some caveats to consider when developing your next specification. \n\nSpeaker Bio \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLarry is a sales manager at Pretech Corporation. He has a degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s in Engineering Management for the University of Kansas. He’s been married to his beautiful wife for 35 years. He has two awesome daughters\, one son-in-law and one future son-in-law. Larry’s pride and joy is his amazing grandchildren\, Mason and Lyla. In his free time\, he enjoys being a sport junky.

DESCRIPTION:Location:  Grand Ballroom B \nSpeaker:  Al Hogan\, P.E. – American Concrete Pipe Association \nPresentation Description: \nThere are no “Silver Bullets” in the Lone Ranger world of Pipe Material Selection\, however\, the one specification issue that has been deployed to control the use of flexible pipe has been the inclusion of Post Installation Inspection as an acceptance criteria for some system owners. This class will review the importance of obtaining a good PII and evaluation section in pipe specifications and standards for consultants\, Municipal owners\, and DOT’s. This presentation will review the history and past sucesses and lessons lerned on the topic of PII and evaluation and walk the students to the who\, what\, when\, and how the PII and evaluation process is best completed. Sample specification wording for PII and Evaluaton will be discussed and provided as well as a review of the current national guidance on evaluation of installed pipe \nLearning Objectives:\nUnderstand importance of PII & Proper Evaluation to our Industry and Infrastructure Stakeholders\nUnderstanding of Who is Responsible for What in the PII and Evaluation Process\nLeave with understanding of Evaluation Tools available and how to use\nReview sample specification language \nOutline/Modules of the Presentation:\nOverview and importance of PII and Evaluation\nThe PII and Evaluation Process\nReview of available tools on PII and Evaluation\nThe making of a good PII Specification \nSpeaker Bio: \nAl Hogan\, P.E. is the Southeast Region Engineer for the American Concrete Pipe Association where he has held the position since 2007. Al has over 35 years of related and industry experience including construction inspection\, construction survey layout work\, 11 years of General Civil Site Design\, and almost 25 years of experience as a Civil Engineer serving the RCP Industry. \nAl is a licensed civil engineer in the state of Tennessee. He received his Civil Engineering degree from Tennessee Tech. University.
