Nathan serves as counsel to national and international trade associations across wide variety of industries providing guidance in the areas of association governance\, antitrust\, intellectual property\, certification and accreditation\, ANSI standards\, information technology\, hospitality\, employment law\, and risk management. He is currently the Chair of the Trade and Professional Associations Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. Nathan has taught courses in hospitality law both in person and online as an adjunct professor at Lexington College and Kendall College. He earned his undergraduate degree from DePaul University and his Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School. Nathan is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the American Society of Association Executives and is admitted to practice in Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Please bring your questions and frustrations with Powerpoint software\, and we’ll work through it as a group.  \nSpeaker Bio: \nTrygve Hoff\, P.E.\, ENV SP\, is the Northeast Region Engineer for the American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA). Tryg graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and his professional experience ranges from environmental consulting in Columbus\, Ohio\, to architectural engineering in beautiful Lake Tahoe\, California. He lives in Madison\, Virginia\, near the Blue Ridge mountains with his wife\, Brooks\, on a small 40‐acre horse farm. Tryg is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio\, and an Envision Sustainability Professional. He has been promoting resilient infrastructure with the ACPA since 2012.

DESCRIPTION:Location: Grand Ballroom A\, B\, and C \nSpeaker: Dr. Shawn Wilson – Secretary LaDOTD\, and President of AASHTO 2022 \nPresentation Description:  \nMore information to come! \nSpeaker Bio: \nDr. Shawn Wilson was appointed Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) by Governor John Bel Edwards in January of 2016 and is now serving as Secretary for a second term. He has more than 15 years of executive service at DOTD. Under his leadership thus far\, DOTD has ushered in project finance and project innovations\, including Public Private Partnerships and Construction Manager at Risk projects. During his tenure as Secretary\, DOTD has awarded more than $4.6 billion in construction projects. \nDr. Wilson is Vice-Chair of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Executive Committee and is the President of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). \nDr. Wilson earned a B.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Louisiana and holds a Master of Public Administration degree\, as well as a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy at Southern University. \nShawn and his wife\, Rocki\, reside in Lafayette\, they have two children\, one son-in-law\, and two beautiful grandchildren.

This session will provide interactions in group activities and five points that can help a team become unified and productive. We will also discuss when it is appropriate for competitors to team up and the benefits of doing so. \nSpeaker Bio: \nCurrently based in Greater Salt Lake Area\, Utah\, he has been working for the ACPA since February 2022. As the Mountain States Director\, he is responsible for educating specifiers\, installers\, and inspectors of gravity pipe systems. His day-to-day consists of conference presentations\, webinars\, event planning\, and meetings with municipal engineers\, installers\, and inspectors in an effect to build proficiency in gravity pipe systems.

DESCRIPTION:Location:  Grand Ballroom A \nSpeakers:  Brian Kolden\, P.E. – County Materials \nPresentation Description \nThis presentation will describe the best practices that I have found to minimize problems and hazards\, yet maximize the plant tour experience. I will walk you through a plant tour tailored to your particular audience and then open up the discussion to this audience on things they may have seen or done on similar plant tours. \nSpeaker Bio \nBrian Kolden is a Technical Resource Engineer for County Materials Corporation. Brian’s main function is to educate and promote the use of concrete pipes and structures to the engineering\, municipal and DOT communities. Additional roles include trouble shooting field issues and working out feasible solutions for all parties affected. Prior to joining County Materials Corporation\, Brian spent 30 years on the contracting side working as an engineer on projects such as the Central Artery Tunnel Project (The Big Dig) in Boston\, MA to the Deep Tunnel Project in Milwaukee\, WI. Most of his career has been spent designing and installing earth support systems\, large diameter structures and pipe systems and various infrastructure improvements. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is a licensed professional engineer in civil with the State of Wisconsin.

County Materials is a full service producer of concrete pipe\, precast box culverts and other associated concrete products. \nHe’s actively involved in the concrete industry for over 40 years in marketing and production precast pipe\, box culverts and 3-sided bridge systems. \nSteve has held leadership positions in the Illinois Concrete Pipe Association\, Board member of National Precast Concrete Association\, founding member of the Derby City Chapter-ASHE and currently Indiana State Director of IKO Concrete Pipe Association. \nMarried to Martha\, a real estate broker\, they have 2 grown sons\, Patrick and Andrew\, who have blessed them with a granddaughter\, Journey\, and grandson\, Oliver. \n  \nJohn Susong has been with Rinker Materials for 24 years\, holding roles as a technical resource engineer\, account manager\, sales manager and general manager. Currently\, John is the Northeast Region Product Resources Manager for Rinker Materials. John is involved with the American Concrete Pipe Association as Vice Chair of the Government Relations Committee\, working to advance the ACPA’s interests with the U.S. Congress and state legislatures. \nJohn is a graduate of Purdue University\, B.S.
