In this highly interactive session\, Keys to a Solid Pipe Specification\, attendees will actively collaborate to identify the essential components of effective specifications. \nUsing real-world case studies—featuring both successes and lessons learned—we’ll explore the direct impact of well-crafted specifications on project outcomes. Through group discussions and hands-on activities\, participants will work together to develop a practical checklist for creating robust pipe specifications. \nBy the end of the session\, attendees will have co-created a valuable tool they can apply to future projects. The finalized checklist will be available for download as a reference. Join us to sharpen your skills\, contribute to a shared resource\, and support the development of efficient\, sustainable infrastructure systems. \nSpeaker Bio: \nBased out of the heart of the US\, Jennifer has been working with the ACPA since April of 2020. As the South Central Region Engineer with the American Concrete Pipe Association\, she assists & supports the states of Colorado\, New Mexico\, Kansas\, Nebraska\, Oklahoma\, Texas\, Iowa\, Missouri\, Arkansas\, and Louisiana Department of Transportation officials\, and other public & private stakeholders in meeting their critical infrastructure needs. Jennifer’s focus is on asset management\, specification consultation\, technical training\, grassroot efforts\, and infrastructure installation best-practices for reinforced concrete pipe and boxes. \nJennifer worked in municipal government for 12 years as a Hydraulics Engineer and a Project Manager and has 8 years of experience on the consulting side. She has more than 23 years of experience in all aspects of civil engineering\, project planning and management. Her expertise of asset management and municipal planning includes research and analysis\, budgeting\, contract management\, specification writing\, QA/QC\, inspection\, construction\, operation\, and maintenance of infrastructure projects. Her background encompasses work in public and private sectors as well as manufacturing. \n

It highlights the reasons for inspecting the pipe walking through various examples. This presentation provides the audience with a review of AASHTO R73\, which provides excellent guidance on the evaluation of RCP and other drainage products prior to installation. \nSpeaker Bio: \nPalisha Sthapit works as a Technical Resource Engineer at Rinker Materials. She covers greater Houston and Louisiana regions promoting precast concrete drainage products\, national standards\, and specifications\, as well as conducting training. \nShe received her bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from University of Texas at Arlington. She lives with two cats and is an animal lover.

DESCRIPTION:Location: Kojo Kamau A – 4th Floor \nSpeaker: Al Hogan\, P.E. – American Concrete Pipe Association\n \nPresentation Description: \nThis class will walk the students through the basic concepts of the structural design of RCP. \nThe speaker will utilize the content of our ACPA Fill Height Table to walk the students through an interactive exercise to explain all of the basic design considerations of selecting the proper strength class of RCP. \nThe class will culminate in the students completing a couple of RCP structural designs given a set of site conditions that they might likely face on many actual job site design/installation scenarios. \nSpeaker Bio: \nCurrently based in Culleoka\, Tennessee\, he has been working for the ACPA since October of 2007. As the Southeast Region Engineer\, he promotes the selection and use of rigid concrete pipes through meetings\, training\, and other activities.
