Since 1980 he has operated a consulting service to the concrete industry. Mel serves on the American Concrete Pipe Association Technical Committee and is Past Chairman of the Technical Committee for the Ontario Concrete Pipe Association. He also serves on the ACPA Manufacturing/Quality Committee and is presently an Associate Member of both associations. Mel is current chairman of the CSA A257Committee and involved in many other ASTM and CSA committees. For his contributions to our industry\, Mel has been awarded the ASTM Spangler Award for performing outstanding technical work in committee C-13 activities\, and the Award of Merit from both the ASTM and CSA Associations. \n

Including tenures as Laboratory Manager for Rinker Materials and Technical Service Manager for portland and slag cement at Lone Star Industries. Tom is a frequent speaker at numerous industry events and a co-developer for the Concrete Fundamentals Lab at World of Concrete. \nTom is a Fellow at the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and active on numerous technical and educational committees. He is a former recipient of ACI Educational Committee Member of the Year award and current Chair of the Educational Activities Committee. Tom is an active member of other professional organizations including ASTM International\, where he is membership secretary for Committee C 9–Concrete and Concrete Aggregates\, and former Chair of Sub-Committee C 9.60–Testing Fresh Concrete\, and a supporter of several state concrete associations.
