SUMMARY:Rigid vs Flexible Pipe
DESCRIPTION:Location:  Grand Ballroom B \nSpeaker:  Alex Aldridge\, P.E. – Oldcastle Infrastructure \nPresentation Description \nDo you know what is involved in the design of storm pipe for your projects? Would class III pipe be sufficient\, or do you need a higher strength pipe? Is soil design required when you specify flexible pipe? What are the main differences in design of rigid and flexible pipes? This class will provide you answers to questions that design engineers typically have. You will learn the basics of a proper pipe installation\, differences between flexible and rigid pipes on plans and in the ground. We will discuss notes and details that should be added on plans to protect yourself from having issues in the field during construction. \nThis presentation will cover the differences between rigid and flexible pipe materials. We will discuss how these materials are design\, tested\, installed and inspected to prove performance. The students will be able to know the differences in how these products are design in details as well as the installation process. The class will also learn what is needed on plans and how to provide clear details to contractors so they can provide a successful installation. \nSpeaker Bio \nAlex is a Technical Sales Engineer at Oldcastle Infrastructure. He has been in the industry since 2019. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in Civil Engineering and minor in Environmental Engineering. Alex lives in Dallas and his area of responsibility includes North Texas where he promotes the benefits of precast concrete drainage products. Alex loves his family\, the outdoors\, and sports.

SUMMARY:Accelerated Bridge Construction
DESCRIPTION:Location:  Grand Ballroom C \nSpeakers:  Jonathan Karam\, P.E. and Santiago Rodriguez\, M.C.E.\, P.E. – DelDOT \nPresentation Description: \nAccelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) has been a hot topic in the Transportation industry. It has been one of the main focuses of DelDOT with many benefits; limiting the impact to the traveling public\, speeding up the construction process and incorporating innovative designs to streamline project delivery. Pre-cast concrete structures are a key asset of ABC\, providing ready-to-use structural components without the need for forming\, curing and fabrication in the field. In this presentation\, Santiago and I will be covering multiple projects that utilized ABC to replace bridges at a rapid pace in comparison to traditional construction. \nSpeaker Bios:\n \nSantiago Rodriguez has over six years of Delaware Department of Transportation experience\, he has been involved in multiple culvert replacement projects and currently works as a Project Manager in their Bridge Design Section. \nJonathan Karam has over nine years of experience at DelDOT\, he currently works as a Project Manager and has designed numerous bridge projects. He has been involved with many pipe lining projects and assists both Construction and Maintenance departments with Spray Applied Pipe Lining.
