Buoyancy

March 8, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm CST

Speaker:  Hank Gottschalk – CP&P

Presentation Description:

Every object that is submerged in a liquid will experience buoyant forces. Buried tanks, vaults, manholes, drainage inlets, pipes and culverts are no exception. A review of the potential buoyant forces and their impacts should be part of each and every design. This session will discuss buoyancy in simple terms that everyone should understand, how they apply to buried infrastructure, and will review specific examples on how to assess and design for buoyancy.
