FHWA – Buy America, Buy Clean, Low Carbon Grant

February 13 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am EST

Location: Kojo Kamau A, B, C – 4th Floor

Speaker:  Brian Hogge – Federal Highway Administration

Presentation Description:

This presentation will explore four key initiatives driving innovation and sustainability within the transportation infrastructure sector. First, we will delve into Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems (ADCMS), which leverages cutting-edge technologies to streamline project management, improve construction efficiency, and reduce costs. By integrating real-time data and automation, ADCMS offers transformative solutions for modernizing infrastructure projects.

Next, the presentation will address the urgent need for Strategic Workforce Development, focusing on creating a skilled workforce equipped to handle the evolving demands of the transportation industry. This includes workforce training, retention strategies, and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the sector.

In the third segment, we will examine Low Carbon Transportation Materials (LCTM) and their role in achieving environmental sustainability. Emphasizing the adoption of eco-friendly materials such as recycled aggregates, low-carbon asphalt, and alternative binders, we will discuss how LCTM can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of infrastructure projects.

Finally, the presentation will cover the Buy America (BABA) initiative, exploring its impact on ensuring that federal transportation projects support domestic manufacturing and supply chains. We will address the challenges and opportunities in adhering to Buy America provisions, as well as strategies for promoting compliance while supporting local economies.

This comprehensive session will highlight how these interconnected areas contribute to a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient transportation system.
