DOT Pipe Inspection Crews
February 7, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 8:55 am CST
Location: Grand Ballroom C
Speaker: Joseph Barbour, P.E., – NCDOT
Presentation Description:
The NCDOT Materials and Tests CCTV pipe inspections are performed by NASSCO PACP licensed technicians and engineers. Materials and Tests’ CCTV pipe inspections focus primarily around project level quality acceptance inspections and reactive maintenance-based investigations. Primary defect observations that are taken on project level, quality acceptance-based inspections on newly installed pipes are reflective of the observations and defects noted in the NASSCO PACP manual and range from cracks/fractures to offset and separated joints. Some of Materials and Test’s recent research initiatives involving CCTV pipe inspections have ranged from a recently conducted Statewide HDPE pipe survey to an ongoing Statewide environmental survey to understand better how and where bats are inhabiting small diameter, NCDOT maintained culverts.
