Maintaining an entire transportation system is an enormous undertaking, and while MoDOT does a remarkable job managing the big ticket assets (pavement, bridges, etc) there are many that often are handled on a project by project basis. For MoDOT, structural signing has been one of those elements that has historically fallen into that category. But now, there is a systematic approach to inspecting and updating these to keep this asset sustainable for years to come. This presentation will explain howMoDOT’s St. Louis District manages their structural signs, and how this approach could work for you.
Speaker Bio:
Tom is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Rolla, leaving with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering December 1998. He is a professional Engineer in the State of Missouri, having started his career with MoDOT and holding positions in Construction and Design throughout his career. Tom was a Transportation Project Manager for MoDOT in the St. Louis Area from 2008-2011. He oversaw the I-70 Westbound Blanchette Bridge over the Missouri River superstructure replacement project. He was an area Engineer for MoDOT in St. Charles County from 2011-2015 and is currently the Assistant District Engineer in St. Louis overseeing all of Program Delivery. He lives in Maryland Heights with his wife and four children.
