Resilience & Sustainability in Delaware
February 7, 2023 @ 12:30 pm - 1:25 pm CST
Location: Grand Ballroom C
Speaker: Jim Pappas, P.E., M.B.A. – DelDOT
Presentation Description:
As the lowest lying state in the nation, Delaware is familiar with the effects of climate change and sea level rise on the infrastructure. We see this on a daily basis as some roads have overtopping of water due to tide and wind cycles, regardless of storm events. Also known as “sunny day” flooding events, they are becoming more frequent and widespread across the state’s roadway network and cause an ever-increasing amount of concern as some of these roadways provide the vital link to communities that have only a single point of access.
