Speaker Bios:

Maria is a registered Professional Engineer in TN & VA with a B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Tennessee Technological University. She has a diverse background in transmission engineering, environmental & construction activities, utility project management, multi-discipline project management and code enforcement. Maria has employment history with TVA, TDOT, several private firms and currently utilizes her talents for the City of Chattanooga as Assistant City Engineer. She was named ASCE TN Section Government Engineer of the Year in 2017, received 2020 EWeek People to People Award, is on the Southeast Stormwater Association board and is Chair of TN’s ASCE’s Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI). She is a TN representative to the National Municipal Stormwater Association, the Creator & Director of the Chattanooga Development Symposium and guest lectures at the University of TN at Chattanooga.

Besides her involvement in ASCE, she is a Brownie and Junior Troop Leader for the Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachians, formerly Charity Director for ConNooga and is involved in the Chattanooga Alumni Chapter of Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority.

When not working or involved in charity work, she spends time with her husband, 2 daughters & Australian Cattle Dog. She enjoys board games, off-roading, muscle cars, cooking and geeking out about stormwater.

Mike is a Technical Marketing Engineer for Foley Concrete Products. He has 38 years of civil engineered infrastructure experience and has a BS in Environmental Design from The University of Oklahoma. His accolades include: 2016 ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers )– Distinguished Service Award- Nashville Branch; Past Board Member Nashville Branch American Society of Civil Engineers; Founding Nashville American Society Highway Engineers Board member; 2015 Chairman of the Board- ACPA (American Concrete Pipe Association); 28 year member of ACPA Marketing Committee (4 yrs as Chairman); 2010-2014 Board and Executive Committee Member –Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce; 2014 Chair of Chamber Economic Development Council; 2014 Nashville Business Journal “Impact on Economic Development Award”;15 year member & Vice-Chairman Rutherford County Planning Commission; 2014 & 2018 Republican Primary Winner and General Election winner for County Commissioner District 7 race in Rutherford County. Current 2 term Rutherford County Commissioner; Current Chairman of Rutherford County Public Works Committee; and Current Member of Rutherford County Steering & Legislative Committee.
