Speaker Bio:
Mark Buckalew is the Assistant Director and Chief of Construction and Materials for Delaware Department of Transportation, also known as DelDOT. Mark has worked for DelDOT since 2006 where he started as a Resident Engineer on highway construction projects. He moved to the position of Area Engineer where he managed a number of large projects ranging from $2 million to $120 million. In 2018 he moved to the position of Safety Program Manager for the State of Delaware. Prior to joining DelDOT Mark worked for a number of consultants where he managed highway construction projects. Mark also brought e-ticking to Delaware, the first state to provide state-wide hot-mix tickets electronically to all contracts.
Mark graduated from the University of Delaware where he attended college at night with a degree in Engineering Technology. He obtained his P.E. license in 2016. Currently he is also an adjunct instructor at Delaware Technical and Community College. He has been married for over 25 years and is a proud father and grandfather. To quote Mark, “construction is my passion and integrating new technologies into the industry is my goal.”
